The long-awaited Why Lawd? has gone quadruple-platinum in my headphones. Compared to the duo’s last album Yes Lawd!, this one is much more somber and introspective. Anderson .Paak tells tales of lost love, regret, and confusion over some of Knxlwedge’s best beats to date. Songs like “FromHere” and “DistantSpace” bring an extravagant drama to the table, the types of songs you sing as you fall to your knees in the pouring rain. I was also overjoyed to see Rae Khalil featured on two songs; her voice melts perfectly into Knxwledge's production.To me this album really is peak music, and one of the greatest bodies of musical work to release this decade.
