Kenny Mason is one of my favorites to exist in the rock-rap realm right now, and 9 has some of my most replayed songs of the entire year. Kenny has that hustle and catchiness of Atlanta’s trap scene that the masses can appreciate, but also this uniquely effortless energy that sets him apart from the pack. He brings this charisma into nine tracks across 9 , with both addicting moments like “CHOSEN” and more soulful ones like “LUMINOUS”. It’s inspiring to see his rise to greatness and even see his name enter goat conversations following this project and tour. But while this album did make my list this year, I don’t believe we’re even close to hearing the best of what Kenny can do. A true manifestor and visionary by nature it seems, in his own words on “LUMINOUS”: “I can see with a blindfold and both of my еyes closed // Every vision my mind showеd appearin' as time goes… Let’s start the car and see how far sh*t go”.
