Three
Four Tet
March 15

One of the things that I’ve always appreciated about Four Tet is the vivid imagery embedded in his music. However, Three is a masterclass in how Four Tet utilizes his polished sense of sound design to assign a personality to each individual noise, creating a palette of sounds that are so poignant and deliberate in its fidelity that a landscape can develop in your head when it reveals a harmony. This landscape can then evolve into a setting when Four Tet elaborates on the rhythmic information and adds context to the harmonic foundation. This process allows each individual song to gradually develop into a daydream that is unique to the listener and gets more vivid throughout its duration. Three is an equally intricate and ingenious tapestry that wanders through these vivid daydreams, and leads the listener through a kaleidoscope of their own imagination.
